AGFUND To Hand Over Its International Prize in Uruguay.. Next Wednesday

Sponsored by Prince Talal Bin Abdulaziz, President of the Arab Gulf Programme for Development ( AGFUND ), the Republic of Uruguay will host the annual celebration of delivering AGFUND developmental international prize which is scheduled to be held on November 27, 2013. The celebration shall witness the honoring of officials responsible for the development projects that have competed to win the prize in 2012 in the field of “Food Security for the Poor”, announcing the winning projects for 2013 in the field of “fighting the phenomena of street children” in addition to specifying the 2014 prize subject. Montevideo – the Uruguayan Capital – shall be witnessing the periodic meeting of AGFUND Prize international committee which is set to be held on November, 17 in order to accredit the 2013 winning projects in the prize four categories (organizations, national NGOs, governmental agencies and individuals). The committee shall additionally announce the 2014 prize subject. AGFUND prize is delivered every year in a country selected in compliance with the standards approved by the prize committee which comprises prestigious personalities representing the entire world’s regions. The award ceremony has so far toured: Geneva, New Delhi, Tunisia, Cape Town, Warsaw, Buenos Iris, Istanbul, Kuala Lumpur and Manila. Montevideo shall be the eleventh stop that hosts AGFUND prize since its inception in 1999 The number of projects nominated for the prize since its inception have so far reached 1009 project submitted from 130 countries. 46 innovative and creative projects have won the prize since its inception ten years ago. The prize has till now covered 26 development subjects in the fields of: fighting poverty, water and environment, developing the countryside, health, education, training, developing the early childhood, water, fighting the negative aspects, developing agriculture and empowering youth. The prize subject for this year has been allocated for the issue of exploiting IT in development.
